Avoid if you can, but Omicron really is “different, this time”

As a rule I generally avoid infection by dangerous pathogens
We don’t need to recap the full suite of reasons here, but let’s just say that basically I don’t need to concede another win for the opposition, right?
However, it looks like there is no way to be careful enough to avoid this beast SARS-COV-2 Omicron. So, what’s the Plan B that is still a smart play?
The answer is of course,
Delay, delay, delay.
By the way, the exact same strategy that has worked since day 1
Old strategy
- Delay so we can gear up
- Delay so we can gather information on effective treatments
- Delay so we maintain capacity for people heart attacks, aneurysms, cancer and childbirth
- Delay for the vaccine
New Strategy: same as the old, with added:
- Delay because the alternative is worse, granted while being inevitable
- Delay because something might come along
- Delay because business and services need to keep going
Getting back to the precise “normal as before”, should be assumed to be over, for the foreseeable future…
