Perfect diagnosis of the collapse in values in governance.
"Getting rid of" is where whoever is mocking the essay will say: "need to expand upon this point".

The current crop would only need the application of a *reliable* set of consequences for actions to be turfed out.
But as a friend of mine once pointed out of allegedly idiotproof systems: "the universe will build bigger idiots" .

We need to persuade the universe to stop building idiots.

My diagnosis is that in fact the call is coming from inside the house and society is far too tolerant of fundamentally antisocial stances.

This is not to say that I am a fan boy for China's pervasive conformism enforced by technology, or the Christo-fascism à la Orban/Putin.

What I want, and I know it is arguably am unattainable ask, is for views that are toxic to become unacceptable:

* insouciance about the environment "it's not my problem / I won't be here anyway"
* lack of empathy for other humans "send them to Rwanda/ let them drown "

The list is depressing and goes on.

Instead, we have comfortable people in the media proposing putting the blinkers on and normalising this sociopathy.

How to fix this?
