“It’s too old”: is it, really, though?

Issues

The Dell 9360 is out of support, and I am seeing some rumblings in the event log about NVME and the like. Now, last time the battery was trashed, again the computer was behaving “oddly”. In that case the Dell warranty covered a full motherboard and battery replacement, but it was the battery that was the issue.
The battery, however is clearly completely trashed, so let’s start with replacing that. It worked so well last time.

Let’s Do This

Dell do not seem to sell the replacement part, so I had to look it up. Finding it and obtaining it was not too troublesome, apart from a little supply chain wait.

Following:

I needed to get one of these Torx screwdrivers.
The back
Jim Dunlop’s finest line of “spudgers”
The edges are *razor sharp* — YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
The back, before I messed with it, in case forensic evidence is needed
Woah dusty
Cleaner
Fun fact: this is actually a giant cool lump of metal (I presume copper)
New on top of Old
Old on top of New — looks like we are good to go!
The back in all it’s taped up glory
Well, it seems to work.

The battery came with instructions recommending a full discharge to twice to avoid issues with incorrect capacity reporting , which I did, but frankly it seems great so far.

Success
