If laws were broken, those infractions should be prosecuted. That's how a justice system works and must be seen to be working. If it's the case that the justice system is not impartial and directed by the ruling political party - which condition I would entirely agree is the hallmark of totalitarianism - then everyone of all stripes should get behind ensuring justice is seen to be done.
