I would respectfully suggest that any seeker of truth look at what the electronic engineers and computer programmers have done for music recently.
SPOILER: it's a lot.
That's derived from the fruits of physical investigations.
There is also the "harder" science of people performing functional MRI on musicians as they produce music.
In the widest sense I can equally ask the question "what have physicists done for classical thermodynamics recently?"
The answer is of course zilch, because there is nothing more to be done there.
My point of course is that this question is not particularly helpful nor valid, in my opinion.
