I believe that “We” (well, a lot of us) decided we were happy enough to turn a blind eye to the dubious proposition that if we didn’t feel like paying for stuff, we didn’t have to.
We arguably avoided a generation of digital have-nots, perhaps at the cost of creating vast cultural wastelands and badlands.
And now, the old conversation that goes along the lines of “who’s paying for this?” is rarely hard and IMHO this is an infantilizing process for, well, all consumers and future generations of consumers.
