Hi Nick
Few thought that Brexit would be used as an excuse to water down environmental protection, with Theresa May saying inher Mansion House speech that: ‘[in] areas like workers’ rights or the environment, the EU should be confident that we will not engage in a race to the bottom in the standards and protections we set.’
This was in fact one of my major concerns: that the (IMHO) inevitable chaos would be used for another “bonfire of the regulations”, only this time no longer focused upon conservatory floor space, but matters more substantial, such as worker’s rights, environmental protections.
In the information vacuum imposed by Mr. Cameron, and exploited ruthlessly by various agents, it would be easier to enact whatever you feel like.
Remember the main parties still harbour MPs and former ministers with decidedly “eccentric” views, up top and including climate change denial.
